Alina Huseynli.
Reviving spa traditions through science, leadership and innovation.
International speaker, researcher and Director of the Institute of Spa and Balneology. Author of the Spa Research Centre project, dedicated to the transformation of spa care in Europe.
Pioneering Research & Leadership
I am the Director of the Institute of Spa and Balneology – the first and only public research institution in the Czech Republic dedicated to spa and balneology. I hold a Master's Degree in Environmental Studies and an MBA in Healthcare Management. Currently, I am pursuing my Ph.D. in Hygiene and Preventive Medicine at Charles University, focusing on the role of spa care in the prevention and treatment of lifestyle diseases.
A defining milestone in my career was securing European funding for the Spa Research Center, a strategic project supported by the EU Just Transition Fund. Following its approval, I dedicated myself fully to the strategic transformation of the Institute. Within one year, our annual budget increased from approximately €320,000 to €3.2 million, and our team expanded from 6 to 40 professionals. Under my leadership, the Institute received the ESPA Innovation Award twice, strengthening our international reputation in spa research and innovation.
I am an active member of the European Spa Association (ESPA) and serve on the International Scientific Committee under EHTTA (European Historic Thermal Towns Association), where I contribute to shaping the future of spa medicine and thermal heritage in Europe.
My work connects science, leadership, and strategy. I believe spa medicine must not remain a tradition alone — it must become a respected, research-driven component of modern preventive healthcare.
